At Agroterenas we have excellence in sugarcane production. Our units deliver approximately 6.512.000 ton/year to the customers: Raízen, in São Paulo state; and Atvos, in Mato Grosso do Sul. The sugarcane cultivation occupies about 90 thousand ha. All of our processes are done by using modern techniques, always according to the standards and legislation in force.
Following the technological evolution, new techniques has been adopted to adapt the mechanized planting and harvesting system without causing any compromise to the continuity of the productive land. Proof of this is the fertirrigation (irrigation of sugarcane crops with rational use of vinasse - a co-product of alcohol distillation), which unites productivity and sustainability. Combining traditional and modern techniques, we apply vinasse in a localized way and in the sprinkler system, so the distribution is uniform to not harm the fertility of the land or reach inadequate levels in the soil.
The pipes that take the product to the field are also made of resistant material and the reservoirs are waterproofed to guarantee the safe pumping of this organic fertilizer from the plant to the field without risks of environmental contamination. The application of fertilizers is established by agronomic criteria, guaranteeing the productivity of the plantation and the preservation of the environment.
The pests control in our cane fields is done in order to maintain the balance between different species. Therefore, priority is always given to the biological control method. For soil conservation we have adopted the practice of crop rotation. Thus, the cultivation of sugarcane is alternated with soy and corn, which contribute to the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen in the soil and to the pests control.
The residues resulting from the manufacture of sugar and alcohol at the factory have a certain and useful destination, using filter cake, vinasse and boiler soot as natural fertilizers. There is a constant concern and commitment to always produce in harmony with the environment, protecting fauna and flora of the region, as well as the action of reforestation, and the riparian forest preservation.
